"The curtain is finally drawn back on the hows and whys of public diplomacy and we like what we see." - Hon. Bruce Gelb, former director of USIA

"Essential reading for anyone with an interest in global engagement…" - Hon. Joseph Duffey, former director of USIA

"This remarkable book provides indispensable insights into day-to-day challenges and opportunities faced by those charged with carrying out American public diplomacy. It is essential reading for anyone who wishes to understand the creative ways in which the United States gets its messages across to friendly and hostile audiences alike." - Ambassador Tony Quainton, former director general of the U.S. Foreign Service

Case studies in the current practice of public diplomacy written by contemporary practitioners constitute a unique resource for scholars, students, working public diplomats and others with an interest in how policy relates to action in an overseas environment.
